Margot considered herself lucky and fortunate, with the hand life had dealt her. Her father had died while she was still just a baby, but her mother had been caring and loving, and always made sure she had what was within her power to give her; includidng a good education. She had attended and graduated from one of the best Young Ladies Catholic Schools in the capital city, with an Academic Bachelor Degree.-
A good visionary, her mother had purchased "Chalet Margot" for less than a reasonable price when it was just built, and its future uncertain.= Since, hard work and circumstances had enhanced the Chalet's value to many times over the purchase price, and develped a loyal base of customers, always increasing. It provided a very respectable income, out of which, Mrs. Portillo had made a down payment on the farm in "Caluco", managing to pay it in full, in five years.
Mrs. Portillo had developed an incurable lung cancer and passed away, leaving all her assets to Margot; who in spite of her youth, continued to manage her finances wisely.
Her beauty and great personality attracted hordes of young men with a wide spectrum of intentions.- A few were honorable, but the mayority just wanted to share a bed with her a few times - some, wanted her as a permanent mistress.
Margot wouldn't have any of that. She still very much regreted loosing her virginity the night of the graduation party, in the whirlpool of the occasion, alcohol, and the handsome, charismatic fellow - her date - whispering sweet nothings in her ear...And the very wide, back seat of the Cadillac he drove.
There was a young man she liked. Kind of quiet, and serious, that came to see her often, and in more than one occasion had expressed his romantic interest in her, and gone as far as to propose matrimony.
Margot kept him on a leash, but at a distance. She did like him, and didn't want to close that door; but...he wasn't what she was hoping for. Rudy - that was his name - didn't have much of a sense of humor, and Margot loved to kid and laugh a lot.
Tony, the guy that drove the Cadillac also showed up often at the Chalet, hoping for an encore. Margot honestly didn't know whether she liked him or not.- Probably not, she thought. But he kept on coming, was very good loking, with a great sense of humor and a terrific personality. Maybe it was the bad memory of what happed on her graduation, that caused her feelings of rejection.
But now, there was Eddy! I wonder, she thought, where will this take us. Don't know, but I really like him, she smiled.
